2D to 3D CAD services

Converting the old to the new

The move from 2D to 3D almost two decades ago and the development of ever evolving CAD tools has left most drawing boards obsolete and lonely. Whilst it’s a rarity to find any drawing office with just a drawing desk, a set of drawing pens, rulers and sheets of tracing paper, there are still a vast amount of 2D drawings of obsolete, old or archived components still in existence. For some companies, 2D drawings are essential for reference and tolerance checking. Usually, these 2D drawings are created from 3D data, rather than the other way round. But occasionally, 3D data is needed from old 2D drawings for a number of reasons. Sometimes, parts need to be re-tooled or 3D models may require the addition of existing parts for assembly checks. Whatever the reason, we provide comprehensive 3D CAD modelling services using industry standard formats.

3D modelling

We can construct 3D models based on interpretations from 2D drawings or physical samples (reverse engineering). Even if drawings are damaged or missing, we can measure from physical samples to construct accurate CAD models. We use a variety of techniques to accomplish this including hand measurements and 3D laser scanning - a service that can provide extremely accurate CAD data from complex shapes.

Architectural services

We offer some architectural services and model making facilities. Click here for more information.

We've got a NURB...

Our CAD systems are NURBS based modellers which means a high degree of accuracy that is industry standard.

Vector graphics

As well as manipluating 3D and 2D CAD data, we also deal with vector graphics, particularly decals and logos. We work to industry standards (AI, PDF and PSD) and are able to support products with any graphics work.
