Consumer products :: Desktop ionizer
We were approached by our client to design a low cost two piece moulded case to house an electronic assembly for a room ioniser. The design they preferred posed several challenges for us as it veered away from the conventions of a domestic ionizer.

Shocking...
Ionizers need to have holes in to allow the passage of ionised air. This exposes very high voltages. Fortunately, this ionizer design operates from an isolation transformer that prevents any connection to the mains supply should any part of it accidentally be exposed through damage or neglect.

Some innovative case studies...
Did you know...

Ionizers work by creating negative ions using high voltage electricity. The high voltage is created through a series of capacitors connected to the mains that store the electricity and multiply it to several thousand volts. The ionized air creates a 'fresh' smell that is similar to that encountered during a thunderstorm.
